Ragamuffins Nightclub was a social hotspot in Camberley that attracted clubbers from Surrey and Hampshire.
This renowned nightclub opened its doors in 1975 and closed down in 1995. During its peak in the 1980s, customers danced their nights away to the latest hits by Boy George, Madonna, Duran Duran, and other famous artists.
The club was so popular that it even made it to the finals of the UK Discotheque of the Year competition. It was also known for hosting the annual Miss Camberley competition, and winners of this event went on to compete in Miss UK.
Keith Connors, an ex-DJ from Rags, has hosted numerous reunion events, including one in February 2020 before lockdown. He played classic hits from Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson to get the dancefloor moving.
Thank you to Cllr Shaun Garrett and The Square Camberley for allowing us to capture this wonderful piece of Camberley’s history.
