Applications are open for this year’s Annual Lottery grant scheme, meaning local charities can apply for funding from the money raised by the Surrey Heath Lottery.
The Surrey Heath Lottery was introduced in July 2019, and was set-up to support local charities – raising money in the community for the community.
Last year, eight local organisations were awarded funding in the first round of the Surrey Heath Annual Lottery Grant Scheme. A total of nearly £8,000 was awarded to groups including Girl Guiding Camberley West, West End Village Hall, and Parity for Disability.
The lottery scheme means local good causes can raise funds by connecting with their supporters. We now have more than 60 local good causes registered, all raising money and working to support a variety of services in our local area. Each lottery ticket costs £1 per week, with 60p going to good causes in Surrey Heath. 50p goes to a nominated good cause, with the remaining 10p accumulating to provide the source of this grant scheme.
The Surrey Heath Annual Lottery Grant Scheme is open to local registered charities who provide services and/or support in Surrey Heath that help the Council to meet its Five Year Strategy objectives.
Portfolio Holder for Support and Safeguarding, Cllr Shaun Garrett, said: “This is a great opportunity for local charities to apply for funding to support their vital work in our local community. “We’ve already distributed a total of more than £40,000 to individual good causes who have benefitted from ticket sales, and through this annual scheme charities can bid for cash grants too.
Visit the website and apply online if you are eligible.” To apply go to surreyheath.gov.uk/lotterygrants and complete the online form before the deadline of 15 December 2021.
